長野県安曇野市を拠点にする造形作家で、家具デザイナーでもある貝山伊文紀が作る彫刻作品。 作者と枝の偶然に出会いから、カタチや重量、材料の持つ空間の量感を読み取って刹那的に造形された軽やかに浮遊する彫刻。 非常に繊細なバランスで、ひとつの枝の形状から呼び起こされるイメージの連鎖によって連なる造形的な印象と、完成時の輪郭と量感の両方を描きながら造形しているように見える。これは、自然と近い距離で暮らしながらデザインと造形の両方に精通している彼にしか生み出せない作品と言える。 モビールはアレキサンダー・カルダーが自身の針金作品を使って「サーカスを表現」した事が始まりで、マルセル・デュシャンが「モビール」と名付けたとされている。 それに対して貝山伊文紀の作品は、「枝の本質と木の枝に内在する美しさの表現」から成り、拾い上げた枝先を忍耐強く見続け、その琴線に触れる事で本質を持った作品に昇華されている。 モビールとしてのバランスをとる前段階で、枝の本質としての美しさを重視しており、本来なら伸びていたであろう枝の形や、それらが気流によって動いた時の造形(キネティック・アート)をも考慮されて構成されており、アートとしての要素が非常に強く、宙に浮いた彫刻と考えられる。 今回の作品は、彼の作品の中でも大物の部類に入る大きさで、複雑な枝の形状を最大限生かした結果と思われる。 刻々と変わる陽射しを片目に、小さな音で音楽を聴きながら眺めたくなる作品。 日々の微小な変化に気づかせてくれる。 ※一点ものです。 ※専用の箱と、組み立て説明書、吊り下げ用の糸、取り付け用の金具が付きます。 Sculptural works by Ibuki Kaiyama, a furniture designer and formative artist based in Azumino, Nagano Prefecture. Born from a chance encounter between the artist and a fallen branch, these sculptures are shaped by reading the fleeting moment—the form, weight, and the spatial volume inherent in the material. Born from a chance encounter between the artist and a fallen branch, these sculptures are shaped by reading the fleeting moment—the form, weight, and the spatial volume inherent in the material. The result is a piece that feels light, as if floating effortlessly in air. The creative process appears to be a delicate balance: a chain of imagery evoked by the shape of a single branch, combined with a vision of the final silhouette and mass. These works are a testament to Kaiyama’s unique perspective—one deeply rooted in a life close to nature and a mastery of both design and sculpture. Beyond the "Mobile" The "mobile" originated when Alexander Calder used wire to express the circus, a term later coined by Marcel Duchamp. In contrast, Kaiyama’s work is rooted in "expressing the essence of the branch and the beauty inherent within it." By patiently observing the tip of a gathered branch until it touches his heartstrings, he sublimates the material into a work of true substance. Prior to achieving balance as a mobile, Kaiyama prioritizes the branch’s essential beauty. The compositions consider how the branch might have naturally grown and how it moves through air currents—an element of kinetic art. These are, in essence, "floating sculptures" where the sculptural element remains the strongest focus.
